The Phantom of Saint Michael
“Weakness only means that you can get stronger.”
Illust. Andrea Corsini
Born a bastard, Michael had his fair share of Morbidia’s cruelty. Throughout his childhood, everyone looked at him the same way they did any other bastards in Garrenborough – a thief and a nuisance. When the Verdanii conquered Garrenborough, their Angelic Faith compelled them to hate Michael’s kind – a child born out of sin. He lost brothers and sisters, forced to fight a war for a nation that had oppressed them.
As the war between the Southern Nations and Verdania raged on, fate brought him to meet Kadmon. With the White Prophet, Michael set off on a quest to find the Angelic Relics and an answer to the question he had been asking himself since the Verdanii came: ‘What is evil?’. Instead, what he found was a purpose. He returned to Garrenborough, vowing to protect the people and the town from any that wished to harm it.
And protected it, he did.
With the Illumina – the sword of Archangel Mikael – and his unrelenting spirit, the people of Garrenborough turned him into a Saint. A reincarnation of the Verdanii Angel. After his death, his phantom became a sentinel that guards the gates of Garrenborough. And he’d spend the rest of his Death, protecting the town he was born in.

Rulings
Michael is one of the few Sovereigns without a Calamity or Dawn effect. Michael will impose a continuous effect for as long as he is a Ruling Sovereign.
Existing damage counters will remain on units affected by Michael’s effect. Those units also carry the same life total. Michael’s effect means that the next time a damage counter is dealt to an Undead or a Horror, that unit is immediately destroyed.

Put one of Michael’s Token on your target. When a unit is affected by Michael’s Invocation, all forms of damage that unit does will be nullified. This includes a Sovereign’s Invocation to deal damage (example: Kilgore). Remove Michael’s Token at Midnight.

Sending units to the Grave does not destroy them. Players who cast Michael as a Spell will not obtain the cards that are sent to the Grave.
